Yale University’s Finance & Business Operations team has an exciting opportunity for a Tax Accountant 2 to join the university’s Tax Department. This position will provide growth opportunities for the right candidate.
The Tax Accountant will be responsible for coordinating and managing a range of technical tax and support activities for tax professionals in the Tax Department. Some of the duties include preparing U.S., state and international tax and information filings for the University, its endowment which includes a global portfolio of investments, and certain affiliated entities.
1. Organizes, reviews and analyzes data, including tracking partnership taxable income and tax basis for the universitys limited partnership investments. 2. Monitors federal, international and state tax payments and refunds and follows up with tax authorities, as necessary. 3. Prepares U.S., state and international tax filings (which in some cases are publicly available documents). Calculates and analyzes taxable income and estimated tax payments for the University and related organizations. 4. Tracks, analyzes and interprets information received from investment managers (e.g., partnership Schedules K-1 and state equivalents, audited financial statements, international disclosures, etc.). 5. Prepares routine tax certificates of exemption, tax forms and tax schedules. 6. Communicates with university departments to provide and obtain information and documents 7. Organizes, maintains and archives tax files, including electronic storage and filing, in accordance with Tax Department document retention policies. 8. Obtains, downloads and tracks tax documents, including Schedules K-1, investment manager tax questionnaires and other relevant tax documents. 9. Manages Schedule K-1 electronic access inventory and departmental email. 10. Provides support to tax professionals, and performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business, Economics or Finance and two years of related tax experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated application of financial, accounting and economic concepts.

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Required Skill/Ability 2:
Demonstrated documentation, project management, organizational skills, and attention to details.
Required Skill/Ability 3:
Strong administrative and organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities. Ability to balance multiple client projects and other responsibilities.
Required Skill/Ability 4:
Professional demeanor and strong communication skills, both written and oral. Ability to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of engagement management and client personnel.
Required Skill/Ability 5:
Positive attitude with good interpersonal skills.
